On the 2nd of September, 2021, the Warsaw University of Technology held a successful public defence of the Daniel Piętak's dissertation. The work was entitled “Evaluation method based on a genetic algorithm for results of Coulomb excitation experiments” was started and partially prepared based on the results obtained at HIL UW. Prof. Piotr Bilski from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, Warsaw University of Technology was the supervisor of the thesis and Prof. Krzysztof Rusek from HIL was one of reviewers.

Professor Andrzej Marcinkowski from NCBJ in Świerk passed away on May 29th, 2021.
He was a member of the Heavy Ion Laboratory Council for the term 2001-2004.
